Introduction to Henderson's European-based Funds
We have made the expertise of our strong performing fund managers available to investors through our range of European-based 'Horizon' funds.
Horizon, our European-regulated and domiciled fund range is structured as a SICAV. As with an OEIC in the UK, a European SICAV is an open-ended investment company which pools investors to maximise economy of scale. SICAV stands for 'Société d'investissement à capital variable' which means an open ended investment vehicle.
Why invest in Horizon?
Henderson’s ‘Horizon’ fund range provides active investment strategies that allow clients to achieve their investment goals. Many of our funds have performance-related fee structures, underlining our commitment to excellent performance on your behalf. Henderson's European-based investments offer key benefits:
-
Greater choice
- the introduction of SICAVs has given investors access to a far wider range of funds than they had previously. An investor in one European country can now invest easily in a fund managed by a manager based in another country, with the knowledge that their investment is governed by rules that have been agreed among all participating countries.
-
Sophisticated investment strategies
- our Horizon range includes mainstream and specialist funds. Some of our specialist funds use the enhanced investment capabilities available under the UCITS III ‘sophisticated fund’ rules which allow our managers to use extra powers to maximise investment returns.
-
Tax efficiency
- the offshore status of SICAV funds mean they can offer certain tax advantages to UK investors. These advantages depend on individual circumstances, and should be discussed with a qualified financial adviser.
-
Currency returns
- the Horizon range is valued and priced in the most appropriate currency of the individual fund - this approach is favoured by some investors who take currency views.
