Due to recent volatility in financial markets, most notably within the financials sector, many of our clients have requested further details on how their funds have been affected, and about investments in particular companies.
Treating customers fairly
Henderson is committed to providing its clients with regularly updated information, and our main focus is to ensure that we protect and preserve our clients’ interests as much as possible.
We recognise that beyond information on investments in financial sector companies, some investors would like to see further details of which companies we invest in. ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ (TCF) requires that all investors have access to the same information and this prevents us from disclosing additional information which could give any investor an unfair advantage over another.
Henderson publishes details of the top ten holdings of each fund in monthly factsheets, which can be viewed via the dropdown menu below. We have considered what further information could be provided at month-end and intend to provide details of individual investments in financial sector companies with the September fund factsheets, which will be available on the website from mid-October.
Counterparty exposure
Henderson actively monitors its counterparty exposures to the various brokers, investment banks, and other securities dealers it trades with in the course of its business on behalf of clients. We have measures in place to ensure counterparty limits remain appropriate to our risk assessment of those counterparties. Henderson deals with a number of counterparties to spread this risk, with the intention of limiting the potential impact from counterparty failure.
Lehman Brothers
We are working through the ramifications of the Lehman default in relation to our clients and funds’ exposures. As a business we have no corporate credit exposure to Lehman Brothers International Europe.
Henderson operates within a tightly controlled risk framework. We continue to monitor clients’ exposure to financial institutions closely within all our funds.
